Why Soy Wax?

Bella & Toby Candles use Australian made 100% soy wax from the All Seasons Soy Wax company, designed specifically for container candles. Soy wax produces a cleaner burn with improved fragrance throw compared with paraffin wax. 

Other great reasons to use soy wax in candles include:

1. LONG BURNING - Soy candles burn slower and cooler than paraffin wax, creating a longer burning candle. They can last up to 50% longer than paraffin candles.
2. RENEWABLE RESOURCE - Soyabeans are a renewable source, unlike paraffin, which consists of petroleum.
3. BIODEGRADABLE - Since soybeans are vegetables, soy wax (basically made from hydrogenated soybean oil) is naturally biodegradable. Soy wax is also easier to remove from materials and other surfaces than paraffin wax.
4. ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY - Soy wax is a favourite because it is not made from petroleum, like paraffin candles. Burning of soy candles does not increase the CO2 level in the atmosphere.

Tips for using Soy Wax Candles:

Remember to burn your candle for approx. 2 hours to get a full melt pool, and then extinguish the flame by dipping the wick. Pull the wick back up and trim to approx. 6 mm and relight. It is important to get a full melt pool on the first burn, as wax has a memory and the candle will tunnel and it is hard to fix. Tunnelling can also cause the wick to drown on subsequent burns and will leave a ring of wax around the container.
